The Artist

Marco De Vita

"The organ is an instrument of heroism and history. In Santa Maria, the sound doesn't just fill the space; it elevates the spirit."

Born in Cittiglio (Varese) in 1997, Marco De Vita is an organist with an outstanding academic background. After completing his high school studies in Varese, he graduated with top honors from the 'G. Verdi' Conservatory in Milan.

In 2025, he earned his Master's Degree from the Pontificio Istituto Ambrosiano di Musica Sacra with a thesis on the 'Heroic Theme in Organ Literature,' where he is currently pursuing postgraduate studies.

The Venue

A baroque jewel in the heart of Milan, renowned for its acoustic purity.

This is actually the 'second' church. The original 13th-century building was demolished to make way for the Spanish city walls. The friars didn't give up; they rebuilt this massive structure in 1558, stone by stone, as a symbol of resilience that has outlasted empires.

It serves as a living gallery of Lombard Baroque art. The side chapels are densely packed with dramatic frescoes by masters like the Procaccini brothers and Morazzone—visual storytelling designed to leave the viewer in awe.

The architecture serves the sound. The vast single nave was originally engineered for preaching—to carry a human voice to the back row without amplification. Today, that same engineering makes the pipe organ sound colossal, wrapping the audience in a physical embrace of sound.
